Aged Crone

  AGED CRONE

A Poem by Michael Woodhead
Copyright © 1968, 2024

I'm filled with love and peace
oh, cease the endless pain
The rain brings freshness, too
And life to humans new

My heart was filled with woe
I'd go to places deep
Where steep hills I would climb
Until the end of time

I view the aged crone
And phone to warn ahead
Instead, I find I'm lost
And wonder what's the cost

The woman turns to man
To stand, now, at his side
And ride upon a mare
Through darkened, moonlit air

The man now turns to me
To see what I would do
I view the aged crone
And know, now, what she'll own
