One day, while I was at work, a young woman came into the store to photocopy some reviews. I asked her what sort of music she played, and I was delighted to learn about Awakenings.
Gentle, lilting melodies and delightful lyrics—most of them written and composed by multilingual Tanya—float across the room in a light folk style reminiscent of Jane Olivor or The Moirs.
With emphasis on her vocals and a minimal but confident accompaniment by her band members, and some music with a decidedly Spanish flavor, Tanya touches your heart and soul with her life-experiential songs which she likes to call 'universal therapeutic music'.
Tanya also has a 'Live' recording that features a light jazz version of Nirvana's Come As You Are.
